Glamp Fun

Poomparai - Palani Hills

The weather was scorching hot in Chennai, so I wanted to escape the heat during my summer holidays. I had a fitness camp in Kodaikanal, and I wanted to be fresh for that instead of being tired because of the heat. Then I came up with a great plan! I could spend some time in Kodaikanal, rejuvenate, and then go to the camp! Everyone thought that it was a fantastic idea!

We decided to stay in a place called LuxeGlamp. It was supposedly very blissful and was meant for relaxing. There were many different kinds of rooms that we could stay in.

They are: Classic Natura Bohemian Moroccan Beloved Celestial Rodeo

All these options were unique and had their speciality. We stayed in the Bohemian. The two commonalities between them all are that they are domes and have a hot tub or jacuzzi. Out of all the domes, my personal favourite was Celestial. Not only did it have the best view to see the night sky, but it also had sun and moon themed things inside.

I was excited and happy to finally be leaving the heat of Chennai behind and going to a hill station. Just imagining it, made me happy. Thinking of the clear blue sky, with only a few clouds to be seen. The night sky is filled with sparkling stars, as I try to spot constellations. What a paradise that would be!

Kodaikanal to Poombarai Hills was a very scenic drive but since I was very tired, I fell asleep and missed most of the scenery. But I guess I did need some energy as I was very tired.

When I woke up we had reached. The weather was even better than I had imagined! When I got out of the car, a cool breeze hit me. This was exactly what I was looking forward to!

We went to our room, the Bohemian. Inside the dome, there was a huge bed. They had an extra bed specially made for me, with my name written with petals.

Outside the dome, it was marvellous. A four-seater hot tub jacuzzi, a thick roped net on which we can lie down and feel like we are floating and some lounging benches.

The first thing that caught my eye was the floating net. I immediately pounced on it like a hungry cheetah and bounced up and down. I ran on it and lay on it until I was so tired of causing so much ruckus.

The view was amazing too. The mountains and river. There wasn’t much rain yet, so the waterfall only had a reasonable amount of water.

I did some Animal Flow on the floorboards and relaxed mist the scenic beauty and the chill foggy breeze on my face. We took some photos and basked in the cool weather. Sadly it started to rain, so we went inside and snuggled inside our cosy little beds. My parents rested for a while I took pictures and read a book.

We had some early dinner, which consisted of some fried chicken, creamy Alfredo pasta, tomato soup and my favourite tiramisu. The chicken was super crisp and I loved them. The Alfredo pasta was so good that I don’t even know how to express it in words. We slurped down some warm soup and finished off with some creamy tiramisu. It wasn’t like a normal tiramisu, it seemed like they just put plain cake and cream or something. But who is going to complain, all the same, it is desert! We went to bed early, so that we could wake up for the sunrise the next day.

The next day when I woke up, my parents were sitting outside. It turns out that they didn’t wake me up because it was very cloudy and there was no point in waking up. The sunrise wasn’t visible. When I woke up they asked me to come out. I did some cartwheels around the place and sat down on the lounging chairs, watching the view. All too soon, it was time for breakfast. We ordered eggs, banana crepe, toasted jam and coffee for my parents in the beginning. It took some time to arrive but, in the end, it was all worth it. The eggs were a little bit yolky but you have got to have some protein. The banana crepe was the best, I loved it. The toast was normal but the jam was unique. We ordered some blueberry yoghurt for me and you should have seen it. It was a light shade of lavender with some granola sprinkled on top. It was heavenly.

Afterwards the guys running the place said it would be very hot till 3 o'clock so it would be better if we did an activity. They suggested the Jeep Ride. We decided that it would be fun so we said we would do it. To be honest it was getting warmer, but still not as hot as Chennai!

We got ready, and went to the area where the jeeps were parked. They took us on a Thar. The trees were so dense that when we entered the forest there was hardly any sunlight.

Then he took us to a very interesting place. Just one week before we came to Kodaikanal there was a wildfire in Poombarai and Mannavannur ranges. We saw the effect of the wildfire and I was mindblown. Such a disaster. Half burnt trees, rotting grass, bushes and no animals or birds to be seen. But thankfully it was only on one side because the road protected the other side of the forest. The further we went, the more ashy smell we got. It was devastating.

We drove through the Kookal lake. It was a picturesque with lots of Lillies on the lake.

After that, we went to the Mannavanur sheep research centre. We got the tickets and saw different species of rabbits and sheep. Boring! We finished that pretty fast, because there was nothing much to see as the lake was dry.

The driver decided to take us to a lake through the off-roading route. But unfortunately half way through a forest guard stopped us and said we couldn’t go more than that because of the wildfire. So we returned back to the dome. When we went back it was cool and nice. We decided to skip lunch, so we just had some cool passionfruit latte and fresh mango juice. I decided to use the jacuzzi. We started it by filling it up with a mix of hot and cold water. It was a perfect way to relax. We switched on the lights in the jacuzzi as well. I stayed inside for a couple of hours. After which I came out. I realised that I had stayed inside for so long that it was time to order dinner as we had to order half an hour prior.

For dinner we had noodles, chicken and Tres Leche. Lighter dinner than last time. The noodles was oily but quite filling. The chicken was scrumptious and the Tres Leche was just bravo! Underneath there was Sivakasi song cake and it was soaked in milk. It has rose petals sprinkled on top. It is a Spanish delicacy, so I was more excited to try as I love Spanish food. We also had the Jack Vanilla, which was nothing nut a thin layer of chewy jackfruit halwa with a scoop go vanilla ice cream in the centre. It was quite different and tasty too.

Next morning was a bright day, so saw the beautiful sunrise with different shades of blue skies. Today was our last day at Luxeglamp. We had a scrumptious meal and they we were off to our next adventure!
