Puppet show

A wonderful experience

The first show was the very hungry caterpillar and other Eric Carl’s story – The mixed up Chameleon and Little Cloud. The show is from Canada. It was a black theatre show. It was a dark hall and they used a black light on the stage. The black light made the black darker and made light colours brighter. There were two actors wearing a black dress and black mask because nobody should see them in the stage. They used rod puppet for the show. The rod puppets had two rods so that they can make the puppets look real. The puppets were made with sponge. The actors didn’t talk at the stage – the story music.

The second show was the Elmer - The patchwork elephant show. Elmer the elephant is a patch work elephant. In this puppet show, the puppeteer used a hand puppet to make the puppet move around and make the puppet talk. There were four people doing the show. All the puppets are made of sponge.

I like the first puppet show because it was very pretty and magical.

I went for another very different show. It was the Peter and the wolf. They used different instruments for each character. They used flute for the bird, a oboe for the dusk, a clarinet for the cat, a French horn for the wolf, a bassoon for the grandfather, kettle drums for the hunters and stings for Peter. They used string puppets like in the lonely goatherd song from the movie Sound of Music. There were 3 people doing the show. There are ten backgrounds they used a camera to zoom in and change the background for the puppets during the show. They used lights in the small boxes to change the light effect. They used small pros like a bench, sofa, bus stop. This show is from News Zealand. This show is different compared to Sound of music because in Peter and the wolf. They used a camera to change the background and in Sound of Music they used a painted background.
